A history walk to the village in Viðey Island

A history walk to the village in Viðey Island
with the historian Stefán Pálsson
Tuesday June 16 at 19:30

There will be an interesting history walk to the east end of Viðey island where there used to be a village in the beginning of the 20th Century. At that time Viðey Island had the best harbour facilities on Faxaflói Bay.

Stefán Pálsson historian will walk with guests and bring those old stories to life.

Tuesdays are longer than other days of the week in Viðey. Two extra trips are added to the schedule at 18:15 and 19:15 and the restaurant at Videyjarstofa is open longer. This makes it possible for guests in Viðey to enjoy a lovely dinner at Viðeyjarstofa before the walk.

The guided tour is in Icelandic and is free of charge. It starts at 19:30 at Viðeyjarstofa and takes about an hour and a half. The ferry sails back to Skarfabakki at 21:00.

Adults pay 1.100 kr. for a round trip with the ferry, children 7–15 years old pay 550 kr. but the youngest sail for free. Owners of Reykjavik Welcoma Card also get a free boatride. Everybody welcome.
