Arcanum Glacier Tours is a qualified glacier tour operator with almost twenty years experience in taking customers up on the magnificent glaciers Mýrdalsjökull and Sólheimajökull. Under Mýrdalsjökull glacier the volcano Katla lies dormant. The glacier is the 4th largest in Iceland and covers about 600km2. The ice is on average 250 meters thick. 
Arcanum main products are Snowmobile tours, Glacier walk tours and ATV Quad bike tours. All the tours start at the Arcanum base camp where we fit you with the relevant gear and go over safety instructions.
The Snowmobile tour is excellent for first time riders. Everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride is provided. Safety is a keyword with Arcanum so before we head upon the glacier we give you a short briefing.
When the visitbility is good, the view from the top of the glacier is awsome and we allow some time for photography. Departures: Total 2 hours (1 hour snowmobile + 1 hour glacier truck transfer)
Glacier Walk is another tour which we are very proud of. After we provide you with the necessary equipment and give a short lesson in icewalking, we start the tour. The route goes over amazing terrain with crevasses, sink holes and ice rigdes. Departures: 2 or 3 hours
Quad biking. After the gearing up we head down to Sólheimasandur, the black beach with the volcanic sand which has derived from glacial outbursts of the volcano Katla. On the way down to the beach we cross a few small rivers. The view down there towards the glacier and the coastline is amazing. On the tour we make a stop at the famous aircraft wreck which has been sitting on the sand since 1973. Departures: 2 hours
Glacier walk and the south coast. We start the tour with pick-up in Reykjavík. The drive takes us along the beautiful south coast of Iceland where the landscape changes a lot on the route. At the Arcanum base, we gear up and start the ice walk in the amazing glacier landscape. On the return to Reykjavík, we make a stop by Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss, two magnificent waterfalls by the south coast. Departures: Total: 10 hours, 3 hours glacier walk
ATV and the South Coast. Tour starts with pick-up in Reykjavík. On the way we explore the beautiful south coast. At the Arcanum base, we make everything ready for the quad biking and go over safety instructions. On this tour like on the ATV tour we are able to enjoy the amazing view up to Mýrdalsjökull glacier, and along the coast all the way to the small peninsula Dyrhólaey, a much visited tourist site by the South Coast. Departures: 10 hours 2 hours ATV.
