Folktales and nature walk on Viðey Island
Join environmental ethnologist Björk Bjarnadóttir on Sunday 27th of August at 13:15 who will be guiding a fascinating nature walk around Viðey Island where herbs, birds, man and elves are the topic of the day. Various herbs will also be identified and their names, uses and medicinal properties discussed. The rich and diverse history of the island will be woven into the tour which will also feature some bird watching and folk stories about mermen and other mythological creatures of the sea.
The walking tour is designed for both adults and children. Those interested might like to bring along handbooks on Icelandic flora and birds. The guide will speak in Icelandic.

Return ferry tickets cost 1.500 ISK for adults, 1.350 ISK for senior citizens and 750 ISK for children 7 – 17 years old accompanied by parents or guardians. Tickets are free for children 6 years and under.
Holders of the Reykjavík City Card travel for free.
Those with a Reykjavík Culture Pass receive a 10% discount on ferry tickets.
