Laugahraun lava field, pictured from Bláhnjúkur volcano, was formed in an eruption from the Brennisteinsalda around year 1477. The Laugavegurinn (“the hot springs route”) linking Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk crosses this lava field. The epic trail is also a popular annual ultra-marathon in Iceland.
