Summer solstice walk – a celebration of life and culture!

21.06.2015 20:00 — 22:00

We’ll celebrate summer solstice with a walk on Videy Island on June 21st. One of our tour guides will be Þór Jakobsson meteorologist who will tell us about the solstice, its festivals and rituals which vary from culture to culture. This year there will be a talk from Margrét Leifsdóttir who is a health councillor. She‘ll talk about how we can improve our lives with healthy living for mind and body.  By a bon-fire on the beach there will be group singing and refreshments for sale for thirsty walkers before we sail back home.

On this day we put aside all our differences and walk together in peace and quiet. We hope that one day the whole world will do the same!

We sail from Skarfabakki at 20:00 and back at 22:00. Spoken language is Icelandic.

Adults pay 1.100 kr. for a round trip with the ferry, children 7–15 years old pay 550 kr. but the youngest sail for free. Everybody is welcome.

Owners of the Reykjavik Welcome Card get a free ticket on the ferry and owners of Reykjavik Culture Card get 10% discount.
