Morning jog in Hljómskálagarður

Christmas snow at the beginning of summer

Since Iceland became independent 79 years ago, it has only happened four times that the snow depth has been measured 10 centimeters or more in Reykjavík in April, like this morning. Of course Icelandic Times / Land & Saga ventured out and about to capture the mood early this morning. Just as well, because by noon the snow was mostly gone, as the sun was high in the sky, and exactly a week ago Icelanders celebrated the first day of summer.

In the garden this morning
Trees already starting to come into their leafs
Better wait a little while longer for the first bike ride of the summer
The flowers must be freezing
It will take some time to clear the snow of the cars in Smáragata
Walking the dog in the fresh snow
Summer meets winter by Reykjavíkurtjörn
