Laufás in Eyjafjörður is located by the estuary of the river Fnjóská and is a renowned church site and chieftain‘s residence. The site still has a vicerage and many remarkable clerics have served there. The farm is a good example of a wealthy vicarage in earlier times.

Eine Vielzahl von Museen wartet auf Ihren Besuch, mit spannenden Themen wie dem Seehund am Selasettur in Hvammstangi, oder dem Wal im Walmuseum von Húsavík, den Torfhäusern von Glaumbær in Sauðárkrókur, wo Sie sich auch ins Museum der Prophezeihungen begeben können, wenn Sie genug Mut haben. Falls nicht, so ist Sauðárkrókur immerhin auch noch das Zentrum isländischer Countrymusik. Im Städtchen Siglufjörður hat gar der Hering sein eigenes Museum bekommen. Ganz in der Nähe finden Sie den altehrwürdigen Bischofssitz Hólar, wo das erste Buch in Island gedruckt wurde.

Mývatn is a shallow eutrophic lake situated in an area of active volcanism in the north of Iceland, not far from Krafla volcano. The lake and its surrounding wetlands have an exceptionally rich fauna of waterbirds, especially ducks. The lake was created by a large basaltic lava eruption 2300 years ago, and the surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic landforms, including lava pillars and rootless vents (pseudocraters).
