Das Dorf liegt hinter den Bergen, die die Kulisse der Blauen Lagune bilden, nur 20 Minuten vom internationalen Flughafen Keflav\u00edk entfernt und 40 Minuten von der Innenstadt von Reykjav\u00edk. Wer konnte das wissen? Viele von ihnen arbeiten in verschiedenen Bereichen der Fischindustrie. Der gro\u00dfe Fischereihafen ist der zweitgr\u00f6\u00dfte nach Reykjav\u00edk. Wenn man Essen gehen m\u00f6chte so gibt es etwas f\u00fcr jedes Budget \u2013 von Imbissst\u00e4nden und Fast Food L\u00e4den zu Restaurants der Spitzenklasse. Der regionale Supermarkt hat eine gro\u00dfe Auswahl mit allem was man braucht um sich zu Hause zu versorgen. Man kann in den geothermalen Schwimmb\u00e4dern des Ortes entspannen, Postkarten von dem regionalen Postdienst versenden oder das Isl\u00e4ndische Salzfisch-Museum besuchen und \u00fcber Grindav\u00edks glorreiche Vergangenheit lernen.
