Er schrieb 12 Nonni-B\u00fccher auf Deutsch. Das erste mit dem Titel <em>Erlebnisse eines jungen Isl\u00e4nders von ihm selbst erz\u00e4hlt<\/em> wurde 1913 ver\u00f6ffentlicht. 1922 kam die isl\u00e4ndische \u00dcbersetzung mit dem Titel <em>Nonni: brot \u00far \u00e6skus\u00f6gu \u00cdslendings\u00a0: eigin fr\u00e1s\u00f6gn<\/em> heraus. Die B\u00fccher handeln von den unterschiedlichen Abenteuern, die Nonni und sein Bruder Manni in Akureyri und im Umland in Eyjafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur erlebt haben. J\u00f3n Sveinsson wurde 1857 allerdings in H\u00f6rg\u00e1rdalur geboren und zog 1865 in das P\u00e1lsh\u00fas in Akuyreyri. Zu Nonnis 100. Geburtstag wurde ein Museum in dem Haus er\u00f6ffnet, das heute Nonnah\u00fas hei\u00dft. Die Nonni-B\u00fccher wurden in fast 40 Sprachen \u00fcbersetzt und in einer Millionenauflage ver\u00f6ffentlicht.<\/p>\n<p>J\u00f3n Sveinsson bekam von einem franz\u00f6sischen Adligen ein Studium finanziert und ging 1870 nach D\u00e4nemark und Frankreich. F\u00fcr den Rest seines Lebens kehrte er nur zweimal nach Island zur\u00fcck. Er starb 1944 bei einem Luftangriff in K\u00f6ln, Deutschland. J\u00f3n Sveinsson oder Nonni war in der ersten H\u00e4lfte des 20.
