\u201eNein, das ist heutzutage keine Standardausr\u00fcstung beim Schafetreiben,\u201c kommentierte Dav\u00ed\u00f0 M\u00e1r Bjarnason vom Hof Krossnes im Bezirk \u00c1rneshreppur in den Westfjorden seine Methode, verlorengegangene Schafe \u00fcber einen gefrorenen Flu\u00df zu transportieren.
\nDie Schafe waren am Tag zuvor auf dem Lambatunga im \u00d3feigsfj\u00f6rdur gesichtet worden, offenbar hatten sie den Schafabtrieb im Herbst verpasst. Die Region versinkt im Winter im Schnee, und f\u00fcr die Schafe besteht Gefahr, von den Schneemassen eingeschlossen zu werden.<\/p>\n

Die Bauern fuhren mit Traktor und Jeep an den Berg und legten dann eine gute Stunde zu Fu\u00df zur\u00fcck. Ihre Ausr\u00fcstung zogen sie auf Schlitten hinter sich her.

Einer der Schlitten diente dann auch einem \u00e4ngstlichen jungen Hammel als F\u00e4hre \u00fcber den zugefrorenen Fluss Rj\u00fakandi. Der Hammel hatte gegen den ungew\u00f6hnlichen Transport nichts einzuwenden und sa\u00df brav, mit gefesselten F\u00fcssen, in seinem Schlitten.
\nAlle anderen Schafe konnten mit Seilen \u00fcber den Flu\u00df gebracht werden und waren froh, endlich in ihre Heimatst\u00e4lle zu kommen.
