Diese isolierte Gemeinde hat weniger als 5000 Einwohner und ist von Sch\u00f6nheit umgeben. In diesem Jahr ist der 50. Januar 1973 ver\u00e4nderte ein Vulkanausbruch das Leben der Menschen, die auf den Westm\u00e4nner-Inseln zu Hause waren. Der Ausbruch, der ohne Vorwarnung kam und f\u00fcnf Monate dauerte, hat mehr als 3000 Isl\u00e4nder vertrieben. Der Ascheregen aus dem Ausbruch ging wochenlang nieder und zerst\u00f6rte H\u00e4user, Vieh und Besitz. Die meisten Einwohner von Heimaey verlie\u00dfen den Ort mit dem Boot. Zum Gl\u00fcck gab es keine Todesf\u00e4lle. Nach dem Ausbruch bildete sich Eldfell, ein Vulkankegel. Das Wort bedeutet im Isl\u00e4ndischen \u201eFeuerberg\u201c. Er ragt 200 Meter empor und geh\u00f6rt zu Islands neuestem Land. museum<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eldheimar ist ein faszinierendes, interaktives Museum \u00fcber den Vulkanausbruch von 1973. Es zeigt Fotos, \u00fcbrig gebliebene Strukturen und eine \u00dcbersicht \u00fcber die vulkanische Geologie der Region. Videos illustrieren die Kraft des Vulkanausbruchs und seine Zerst\u00f6rung. Karten leuchten an der Wand und zeigen die Vulkane auf der Insel.<\/p>\n<p>Die Sammlung w\u00e4chst stetig. Anfang dieses Jahres hat Eldheimar zur Aufbewahrung einen bemerkenswerten Film bekommen, den der Geologe Ingvar Birgir Fri\u00f0leifsson in den ersten Tagen nach dem Ausbruch gedreht hat. Damals machte er seinen Doktor in Geologie in Oxford. Am Tag nach dem Ausbruch schlug ihm der Leiter der geologischen Fakult\u00e4t der Universit\u00e4t vor, nach Heimaey zu fahren, um das Ereignis f\u00fcr die Wissenschaft festzuhalten.<\/p>\n<p>In diesem Sommer feiern die Vestmannaeyjar Anfang Juli den 50. Jahrestag des Endes des Ausbruchs. In Eldheimar finden Veranstaltungen statt, unter anderem eine Kunstausstellung der zwei besten isl\u00e4ndischen K\u00fcnstler, die Bildhauerin und Malerin Hulda H\u00e1kon und der Maler J\u00f2n \u00d2skar. Es wird Musik und Geschichten von dem in Vestmannaeyjar geborenen G\u00edsli Helgason und seiner Band geben und ein Konzert von Magnus R. Sie f\u00e4hrt t\u00e4glich von Mai bis September. Gegen eine Zusatzgeb\u00fchr ist die Mitnahme von Autos m\u00f6glich. Das ist angesichts der kleinen Gr\u00f6\u00dfe der Insel jedoch nicht notwendig. Die Herj\u00f3lfur-F\u00e4hre f\u00e4hrt ab Landeyjah\u00f6fn in S\u00fcdisland. Die Fahrtzeit betr\u00e4gt rund 40 Minuten. Dazu geh\u00f6ren Bootsausfl\u00fcge, Fjordsafaris, Jeepfahrten, Wanderwege, Fahrradvermietungen und M\u00f6glichkeiten, Meeresv\u00f6gel zu beobachten.<\/p>\n<p>Tats\u00e4chlich sind die Papageientaucher auf den Westm\u00e4nner-Inseln die Hauptattraktion f\u00fcr Zehntausende von Besuchern. Mit ihren orangefarbenen F\u00fc\u00dfen, ihren runden K\u00f6rpern und gestreiften Schn\u00e4beln sind sie einfach bezaubernd und das inoffizielle Maskottchen von Island. Es macht Spa\u00df, an den Meeresklippen entlang zu wandern und etwas Zeit mit den putzigen V\u00f6geln zu verbringen, sie zu fotografieren und dabei die Landschaft zu genie\u00dfen. Die beste Jahreszeit, um Papageientaucher zu beobachten, ist von Juni bis August. Wenn Sie Island im Sommer besuchen, planen Sie unbedingt einen Ausflug auf den Westm\u00e4nner-Inseln ein.<\/p>\n<p>Die neueste nat\u00fcrliche Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeit auf den Westm\u00e4nner-Inseln richtet sich an Walliebhaber. Die Ankunft von Little Grey und Little White, zwei Beluga-Walen, die 2019 von China nach Island umzogen, haben in Vestmannaeyjar ihr neues Zuhause gefunden. Sea Life Trust, eine gemeinn\u00fctzige Organisation, ist f\u00fcr das Schutzgebiet verantwortlich. G\u00e4ste k\u00f6nnen die Bucht, in der die Wale nun leben, im Rahmen einer Bootstour besichtigen.<\/p>\n<p>Die Westm\u00e4nner-Inseln sind der ideale Aufenthaltsort, wenn Sie den S\u00fcden Islands besuchen.
