Sn\u00e6fell, der im Nationalpark Vatnaj\u00f6kull liegt, ist der j\u00fcngste Vulkan in Ostisland. Er ist 1826 Meter hoch und besteht aus Rhyolit und Tuff. Der Berg ist beeindruckend, da er sich tausend Meter vom Plateau 20 km nord\u00f6stlich von Vatnaj\u00f6kull erhebt. \u00d6stlich vom Berg ist Eyjabakkar, eine Gr\u00fcnfl\u00e4che, die ideal f\u00fcr Heideg\u00e4nse ist. Westlich vom Berg liegt Vestur\u00f6r\u00e6fi, die Hauptheimat der Rentiere in Island. Der Aufstieg zum Berg ist von Sn\u00e6fellssk\u00e1li aus relativ einfach und insgesamt 28 km lang.
