Kaldidalur war die erste Gebirgsstra\u00dfe Islands, die 1830 auf Initiative des Dichters und Bezirksgouverneurs Bjarni \u00de\u00f3r\u00e2rensen angelegt wurde. <br\/><br\/>Die Stra\u00dfe z\u00e4hlt zu den h\u00f6chstgelegenen des Landes und erreicht westlich des Langj\u00f6kull eine H\u00f6he von 730 m. Sie ist nur im Sommer und dann auch nur mit gut ausger\u00fcsteten Fahrzeugen befahrbar. Die Route verl\u00e4uft gr\u00f6\u00dftenteils \u00fcber karge Schotterebenen und erstreckt sich vom Nationalpark \u00deingvellir bis hinunter nach Husafell in Borgarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, einer wundersch\u00f6nen gr\u00fcnen Oase.  <br\/><br\/>Von Husafell aus ist es nur ein Katzensprung zu den Hraunfossar-Wasserf\u00e4llen, die aus einem Lavafeld in den Fluss Hv\u00edt\u00e1 st\u00fcrzen. F\u00fcr Reisende, die Island von vielen Seiten erleben m\u00f6chten, ist dies ein hervorragender Tagesausflug: eine Rundfahrt von Reykjav\u00edk nach \u00deingvellir, dann durch Kaldidalur hinunter nach Borgarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, weiter nach Reykholt, Hvanneyri und Borgarnes, bevor es zur\u00fcck in die Hauptstadt geht.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\"
