Die meisten Besucher m\u00fcssen sich mit ersten Eindr\u00fccken zufriedengeben, auch wenn diese oft schon tiefgreifend sind. Jetzt k\u00f6nnen sie sich jedoch von der Erfahrung des Piloten und Fotografen Bj\u00f6rn R\u00fariksson bereichern lassen, denn nach unz\u00e4hligen Stunden in der Luft hat er, mit der Kamera in der Hand, die Essenz der Insel f\u00fcr seinen Bildband \u201eIceland above\u201c (Island von oben) in atemberaubender Weise eingefangen.<br \/>\nBj\u00f6rn fliegt seit Jahrzehnten und ist stolz darauf, dass die Entfernungen die er w\u00e4hrend seiner Fotomissionen \u00fcber dem isl\u00e4ndischen Festland zur\u00fcckgelegt hat, 15 Mal um den ganzen Globus herum reichen w\u00fcrden. Es braucht oft mehrere Ans\u00e4tze und optimale Bedingungen um das perfekte Bild zu schiessen. Bj\u00f6rn hat in einigen F\u00e4llen manche Orte bis zu 40 Mal besucht, bevor das Ergebnis \u2013 der perfekte Schuss \u2013 ihn zufriedenstellte. Doch sagt er, dass jede einzelne Minute die Reisen wert waren, weil dies der beste Weg sei, Island wirklich zu begreifen. Island ver\u00e4ndert sich nat\u00fcrlich st\u00e4ndig. Dunkle Winter kontrastieren mit hellen Sommern, schmelzendes Eis steht gl\u00fchender Lava gegen\u00fcber. Mit jedem Besuch kommt er seiner Insel noch ein St\u00fcck n\u00e4her. \u201eDen ganzen Kontext verstehst du nur, wenn du ihn von oben siehst, was nat\u00fcrlich schwer umzusetzen ist. Unabl\u00e4ssig ver\u00e4ndert und formt sie die Insel, und Bj\u00f6rn ist wie ein Chronist dieser Ver\u00e4nderungen, denn er hat sage und schreibe 16 Vulkanausbr\u00fcche in Island \u00fcberflogen und fotografisch dokumentiert.<br \/>\nDas Buch ist nach Regionen unterteilt. Jedes Kapitel beginnt mit einer Einf\u00fchrung in die Charakteristiken der Region, die dann mit Islands geologischer Geschichte in Verbindung gebracht werden.
