Les mesures prises par l\u2019institut pendant ces 10 derniers jours permettent de constater que la coul\u00e9e de lave s\u2019est stabilis\u00e9e \u00e0 un d\u00e9bit de 10,4 m\u00e8tres cubes par seconde, ce qui est tr\u00e8s similaire \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9ruption de l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, sur les m\u00eames zones. Le d\u00e9bit avait atteint le triple lors des premiers jours de l\u2019\u00e9ruption. La surface actuellement recouverte par la lave est comparable \u00e0 celle de Hyde Park \u00e0 Londres et presqu\u2019un tiers de celle de Central Park \u00e0 New York. Lorsque la lave aura rempli la vall\u00e9e o\u00f9 l\u2019\u00e9ruption est en cours, le temps sera venu de se poser la question o\u00f9 la lave se dirigera : coulera-t-elle vers le nord vers la route de Keflav\u00edk et le village de Vogar sur la c\u00f4te de Vatnsleysustr\u00f6nd ? Ou bien se dirigera-t-elle vers le sud en traversant la route de Su\u00f0urstrandarvegur pour se jeter dans la mer ?
