Au d\u00e9but, il y avait principalement des objets de l&rsquo;ancienne communaut\u00e9 agricole, mettant l&rsquo;accent sur l&rsquo;agriculture, le commerce et l&rsquo;industrie de la p\u00eache jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 la m\u00e9canisation. Le mus\u00e9e s\u2019est bien d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 au cours des d\u00e9cennies et il met aujourd\u2019hui l&rsquo;accent sur la vie quotidienne en Islande jusqu&rsquo;au milieu du si\u00e8cle dernier. Le mus\u00e9e fut tout d\u2019abord ouvert \u00e0 Selfoss, dans une maison qui fut ensuite d\u00e9plac\u00e9e \u00e0 Eyrarbakki en 1995. \u201cLa Maison \u201cH\u00fasi\u00f0\u201d \u00e0 Eyrarbakki, est la plus ancienne maison du Sud de l\u2019Islande. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite en 1765 et est notre principal tr\u00e9sor\u00a0\u00bb, explique L\u00fd\u00f0ur P\u00e1lsson, historien et directeur de mus\u00e9e depuis 30 ans. \u00ab\u00a0Ces b\u00e2timents magnifiques et uniques doivent \u00eatre appr\u00e9ci\u00e9s, car ils sont, en fait, le coeur de l\u2019exposition. The Maritime Museum, as Eyrarbakki was, through the centuries, one of the largest trading ports in the country, and Kirkjub\u00e6r, an Icelandic family home built in 1920, where we go back a hundred years and see how ordinary poor people lived. Ils peuvent voir comment vivaient les gens ordinaires au si\u00e8cle dernier. En effet, des artistes de neuf pays ont partiellement transform\u00e9 les espaces d&rsquo;exposition et install\u00e9s des \u0153uvres cr\u00e9\u00e9es \u00e0 Eyrarbakki, lors du Festival de l\u00b4Oc\u00e9an \u201cHafsj\u00f3r &#8211; Oceanus Art Festival\u201d. Il s\u2019agit d&rsquo;une collaboration entre le mus\u00e9e et l&rsquo;artiste \u00c1sta Vilhelm\u00edna Gu\u00f0mundsd\u00f3ttir, commissaire de ce festival.<br \/>\nCela prend-il beaucoup du temps de pouvoir faire un saut dans le pass\u00e9 et d\u00e9couvrir l&rsquo;une des maisons les plus anciennes et les plus importantes d\u2019Islande ainsi que les deux autres mus\u00e9es? Non, cela ne prend que 45 minutes en voiture pour atteindre Eyrarbakki depuis Reykjav\u00edk, ou 15 minutes depuis Selfoss.
