Elles font partie du paysage urbain de Reykjavik et de notre histoire. La statue d\u2019Ing\u00f3lfur Arnarson sur Arnarh\u00f3ll et celle de J\u00f3n Forseti \u00e0 Austurv\u00f6llur sont deux des statues les plus connues de cet artiste exceptionnel. Einar J\u00f3nsson est n\u00e9 en 1874 \u00e0 la ferme de Galtafell \u00e0 Hrunamannahreppur. Entre 1886 et 1920, il a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 la sculpture et a travaill\u00e9 dans ce domaine dans les villes de Copenhague et Rome. Il est revenu en Islande en 1920. Avec l\u2019aide de l\u2019\u00e9tat et de personnes cl\u00e9s, il a construit son propre atelier\/mus\u00e9e au sommet de Sk\u00f3lav\u00f6r\u00f0huholt. Le mus\u00e9e a ouvert ses portes il y a 100\u00a0ans, offrant \u00e0 l\u2019Islande son premier mus\u00e9e d\u2019art. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, la colline sur laquelle sont situ\u00e9s l\u2019\u00e9glise Hallgr\u00edmskirkja et le mus\u00e9e d\u2019Einar J\u00f3nsson, \u00e9tait le point culminant de la ville. C\u2019est l\u00e0 aussi qu\u2019\u00e9tait install\u00e9e la d\u00e9ch\u00e8terie\u00a0! Einar a appel\u00e9 ce b\u00e2timent unique Hnitbj\u00f6rg. L\u2019ensemble du b\u00e2timent est par la suite devenu un mus\u00e9e.
