Autrefois \u00eele reli\u00e9e au continent par une plage accessible \u00e0 pied \u00e0 mar\u00e9e basse, elle se situait \u00e0 l&rsquo;ouest de Kvosin, berceau de la colonisation islandaise.<br\/>Aujourd&rsquo;hui, Grandi s&rsquo;est agrandie gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 d&rsquo;importants travaux de remblaiement, et \u00d6rfirisey forme la partie la plus occidentale du port de Reykjavik. Elle constitue le principal centre commercial pour l&rsquo;alimentation dans l&rsquo;ouest de la ville, tout en demeurant un p\u00f4le dynamique pour l&rsquo;industrie de la p\u00eache, abritant deux grandes entreprises du secteur.   <br\/>La r\u00e9gion abrite \u00e9galement les r\u00e9serves p\u00e9troli\u00e8res du pays et attire les touristes gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses sites touristiques, ses restaurants et ses nombreux mus\u00e9es.<br\/>\u00d6rfirisey et Grandi forment d\u00e9sormais un \u00ab village \u00bb anim\u00e9 au c\u0153ur de la capitale : une presqu&rsquo;\u00eele gagn\u00e9e sur la mer, abritant un seul \u00eelot r\u00e9sidentiel et une population clairsem\u00e9e mais dynamique, o\u00f9 touristes et locaux se c\u00f4toient sur une \u00eele presque enti\u00e8rement fa\u00e7onn\u00e9e par l&rsquo;homme. Ces travaux de remblaiement ont rendu le port plus s\u00fbr et plus efficace, cr\u00e9ant ainsi un nouveau quartier attrayant \u00e0 l&rsquo;ouest du centre-ville.<br\/>L&rsquo;Icelandic Times a
