Fj\u00f6llin eru mikil og br\u00f6tt og margir tindar \u00e1 bilinu 1000-1400 m \u00e1 h\u00e6\u00f0. H\u00e6stu fj\u00f6llin eru upp af Sk\u00ed\u00f0adal, h\u00e6stur er D\u00fdjafjallshnj\u00fakur 1456 m. Svarfa\u00f0ardals\u00e1 rennur eftir dalnum. H\u00fan \u00e1 innstu uppt\u00f6k s\u00edn \u00e1 Heljardalshei\u00f0i en safnar a\u00f0 s\u00e9r vatni \u00far fj\u00f6lda \u00fever\u00e1a og l\u00e6kja.
