The cat lights up the winter darkness

The City of Reykjavík has been decorating the capital for the upcoming festival for a few weeks. One of the decorations is the Yule cat, located in the middle of Lækjartorg and lights up the square during the short days. The cat is designed in collaboration with the City of Reykjavík, Garðlist and mk-Illumination in Vienna. This is the fourth year that the cat has had its spot on Lækjartorg. The troll and mother of the Yule-lads, Grýla, is a special protector of the cat.

The Yule cat at Lækjartorg has no less than 6499 led bulbs. The cat is no small construction, 5 meters high and 6 meters long.
