There is a glimpse of a house at the mouth of the Keflavík river. Gjögurfjall Mountain to the west and Hnjáfjall Mountain to the east close Keflavík.

Keflavík in the North – There should be an airport there

Fjörður is a deserted area on Gjögurskagi, the peninsula between Eyjafjörður and Skjálfandaflói. It was deserted in 1944. Keflavík and Keflavíkurdalur Valley in the picture are the westernmost part of Fjörður. In Keflavík, a farm of the same name was considered the second most remote farm in the country, after Hvanndalir on the other side of Eyjafjörður. Keflavík was deserted in 1906, but the farm had been inhabited for over a thousand years, or since the settlement age. Fjörður gets some of the most snow in Iceland during the winter. Transport in the winter is hopeless. In the summer, steep mountains and cliff walls separate the bays and fjords and are almost impossible. The last owner in Keflavík, Geirfinnur Magnússon, owned one of the most famous horses in Icelandic history, the mare Keflavík-Jörp.
