There are two exhibitions at Gerdarsafn in Kópavogur. In one of them, Parabola, Finnbogi Péturson creates a world where the negative and the positive dance together to form new patterns. The frequencies of the waves are visual; we see them meet—not breaking but forming new patterns or even stillness. This is no ordinary pulse; it is the oscillation that matter naturally seeks to achieve. The artist uses water, air, light, and sound as materials to shape this experience, as noted in the exhibition catalogue.
Unstable Land is an exhibition project and artistic research by Gunndís Ýr Finnbogadóttir and Thorgerdur Ólafsdóttir. It is based on interviews with individuals who have travelled to Surtsey, an island formed during an underwater volcanic eruption southwest of Vestmannaeyjar over half a century ago, in 1963. Surtsey is the southernmost part of the republic, further south than anything else.
