The National Gallery of Iceland seen from Sudurgata, across Reykjavík Pond

Photographic Magic

Five photographers are showcasing their magic at the National Gallery of Iceland in the exhibition Intimacies of The Everyday. As you enter Hall Four and turn left, childhood greets you in a series of photographs by Joakim Eskildsen (DK), and the exhibition concludes with our final moments in a series by Sally Mann (US). Between youth and the inevitable, there are photographic series depicting love, adolescence, and everyday life by Agnieszka Sosnowska (IS), Orri Jónsson (IS), and Niall McDiarmid (SCO).

Curated by Pari Stave, the exhibition presents carefully selected series from each photographer’s body of work. It revolves around the idea that certain moments arise when complete trust and affection exist between the photographer and those who enter the frame. A brilliant exhibition—pure magic.
