Rammagerðin is a shop with several locations in Iceland, including a shop in the heart of downtown Reykjavik, on Skólavörðustígur. Rammagerðin/Iceland Gift Store was established in 1940 and is one of the oldest gift stores in Iceland.
In the beginning the mainstay of the business was framing and frame making, as the Icelandic name Rammagerðin implies. In 1949 the company started selling Icelandic designs and woolens, especially to meet the needs of those wanting to buy gifts for friends and relatives abroad.
Since then, Rammagerðin/Iceland Gift Store has emphasized on offering a variety of products made by Icelandic craftspeople and designers, along with products made from Icelandic materials.
