Fljót i Skagafirði

Fljót at Tröllaskagi

Fljót at Tröllaskagi

The northernmost settlement in the eastern part of Skagafjörður is Fljót. Snowy countryside, south of Siglufjörður on Tröllaskagi. There is some geothermal heat in the area, no urban center, but one shop / gas station, and one luxury hotel at Deplar. There are three routes to Fljót in the summertime, two in the wintertime, from Hofsós in the south and Siglufjörður in the north. During the summer you can take one of the most beautiful mountain roads in Iceland, over Lágaheiði from Ólafsfjörður. Miklavatn in the middle of the area makes a big impression on Fljót.
