The Design Museum of Iceland (Hönnunarsafn Íslands), in Garðabær, has in its collection about 5,000 items from the beginning of the last century to the present day. In the exhibition Hönnunarsafnið sem heimili, which is currently in the museum, you will find around 200 examples of excellent design from the museum’s collection. There you can find a stove, chairs and even a bicycle designed by Icelandic inventors and designers. The exhibition sheds light on a fraction of what craftsmen and designers have created over the last hundred years. Another exhibition in the museum right now is Fallegustu bækur í heimi, an exhibition that the Design Museum is doing in collaboration with FÍT. But the competition Best Book Design from all over the World has been held since 1963, or for sixty years.
