What more can be said about Mývatn that hasn’t already been said? It is a lake and surrounding area that is simply unique, thanks to its natural beauty, the local community, and the livestock that thrive in the area—the highlands of northeast Iceland. Mývatn is just a six-hour drive from the capital, five from Hornafjörður in the southeast, four from Blönduós, three from Seyðisfjörður, two from Siglufjörður, an hour from Akureyri, and only half that from the mighty Dettifoss waterfall.
