The eruption number seven was seen from Reykjavík, at 9:15, ten hours after the start.

Eruption Number Seven

Last night, a three kilometer long fissure opened up, near Sandhnjúkagígar, North of Grindavík. What was special about this eruption, that there was almost no warning that an eruption was going to start. The eruption could not be in a better place, for infrastructure. The lava is running fast, 300 meters an hour, but mostly in North and West directions, and has runned over, closing the main road to Grindavík, but that is all for the moment. Grindavík, Svartsengi Power Plant, and the Blue Lagoon are safe… at the moment.
