Wonderful Winter

Winter in Iceland is wonderful—dark, very dark, and usually cold. Of course, this is not entirely true. But often, the best moments for travellers, photographers, and all of us happen in the depths of winter—from mid-November to early February, when the light starts to return. Here are seven memorable or beautiful moments where winter takes centre stage, just as it does right now in Iceland.

Fagradalsfjall, Gullbringusýsla
Hafnarfjall Borgarfirði
Hellulaug, West Bardastrandarsýsla
Bergstaðastræti, Reykjavík
At Dyrhólaey, West Skaftafell County
Noon sun at the winter solstice, Reykjanes Lighthouse, the westernmost point of Reykjanes peninsula
