: A glimpse into “The Flood,” an installation by Jónsi

Art That is Buzzing This Summer

The exhibitions at the Reykjavik Art Museum in Hafnarhús this summer are as diverse as they are excellent. “The Flood” by Jónsi (Jón Þór Birgisson) cascades through the halls with an amalgamation of music, light installations, and scents, creating a unique and cohesive whole. Jónsi, who shot to fame internationally as the frontman of the post-rock band Sigur Rós about a quarter of a century ago, has been exploring various art mediums for the past two decades. This exploration is evident in this powerful four-part exhibition, curated by Markús Þór Andrésson.

In the exhibition “Murr,” the spotlight is on the obsessive-compulsive working methods in visual art. The exhibition’s title pays tribute to a renowned play by Dieter Roth from 1974. Eleven artists are presenting their work, under the curatorship of Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir. Visitors are encouraged to experience these exhibitions at Hafnarhús, located in the heart of Reykjavik’s city center. Both exhibitions will be open until September.
