Bright Nights
This photo is taken north of Eyjafjörður, three minutes after midnight tonight. Eyjafjörður is a 60 km long fjord in the middle of North Iceland and the home to close to 30,000 thousand people. The town of Akureyri is by far the largest, with 20,000 inhabitants, and lies at the bottom of the fjord. The town has the only international airport in the North. The island Hrísey, in Eyjafjörður, can be seen rising from the fjord on the left side of the picture, where about 150 people now live. The population has significantly decreased in recent years.
