One could say that the future, the past, and everything in between are on display at Berg Contemporary on Klapparstígur, downtown Reykjavík, where three artists present their work. Hallgerdur Hallgrímsdóttir and Nina Zurier showcase photographic works in the exhibition Sjónarvottur (“Witness”), while Woody Vasulka presents an installation titled The Brotherhood. This piece was first exhibited in its entirety at the newly opened NTT InterCommunication Center in Tokyo, Japan, in 1998.
Nina’s photographic works are created using artificial intelligence, whereas Hallgerdur crafts her beautiful images using traditional methods. What ties these works together is a shared thread—an effort to safeguard the future by remembering the past.
