Kópavogur Library, Hamraborg 6a

For Our Best People

When entering the Kópavogur Library at Hamraborg, you are greeted by a plaque showcasing Kópavogur’s award as a child-friendly municipality. The award was given to Kópavogur by UNICEF Iceland, presented by the Minister of Social Affairs and Children, Ásmundur Einar Daðason, just over three years ago. Now, in early May, a new cultural and scientific center primarily intended for children opened in the newly shared space of the Kópavogur Library and the Natural History Museum of Kópavogur. The main attraction of the space is the new core exhibition of the Natural History Museum, Fragments of Earth’s Life. Additionally, the adjacent children’s library area has been redesigned for reading sessions and play, with nature surrounding the museum in mind. Truly an institution where our best people are placed first.
