The autumn colours are the most beautiful in Icelandic nature at the end of September and October. But where is the best place to see the colours? The first two places that come to mind are Þingvellir National Park and Þórsmörk in South Iceland. In the west, it is Grábrókarhraun, Húsafell, and Skógarströnd, where the photo is taken. To the north are Fnjóskadalur, Mývatnssveit and Ásbyrgi. To the east is Fljótsdalshérað with Hallormsstaðaskógur, and Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park. Akureyri is the urban area where the autumn colours are the most beautiful. In Reykjavík, Laugardalurinn and Heiðmörk, just outside the capital, are the the places that offer the greatest autumn colours.
