Svandís Svavarsdóttir and Katrín Jakobsdóttir were tired but somewhat satisfied with the results of the Althingi elections. The Icelandic Times met The Minister of Health (left) and Prime Minister on their way to a parliamentary party meeting. The votes had to be recounted in the Northwest constituency yesterday afternoon, which resulted in considerable changes. The number of MPs from the parties did not change. Still, due to the changes in MPs made it so that women lost their majority in Althingi. There are demands that the recount be deemed illegal since the votes were not sealed as required by law. The ballots lay on tables in a locked room at a Hótel Borgarnes, after the initial count until the recount. The Pirate Party, Left-Green Movement, Independence Party and the Socialist Party have requested a recount in the Southern constituency, where only seven votes were needed for Vinstri Græn to get another MP at the expense of the Center Party. There are exciting times ahead in Icelandic politics.
