The light in the west
Yesterday’s forecast was terrible; wind and rain can be good to photograph. Tourism providers outside the capital and the south have been complaining about the official marketing in Iceland. In recent years, Southwest Iceland and Reykjanes have primarily been promoted, all places close to the capital. The same goes for the light in the west.
There are many places worth visiting in West Iceland, such as Snæfellsnes, Dalasýsla and the Borgarfjörður region, which not only offers nature, but there are also significant cultural and historical sites such as Reykholt in Reykholtsdalur, and the war relics in Hvalfjörður. In the west, there are not only most of the country’s islands but also isolated beaches at Hvammsfjörður, a magnificent volcano with a glacier cap, Snæfellsjökull in the west of Snæfellsnes, and two lighthouses side by side in Akranes. Icelandic Times / Land & Saga ventured west in the lousy weather to capture the light of the west.
