There are currently two fun exhibitions at the Design Museum of Iceland on Garðatorg in Garðabær. H A G E is a collaborative project between hat masters Harper and Anna Gulla Eggertsdóttir. They met 12 years ago while studying in Gothenburg and specialize in designing hats, clothing and accessories from natural materials. The hats in the exhibition in the museum are made with both modern methods and classical ones. For the hats, they use, among other things, straw, leather and felt, which they shape with steam and wooden moulds.
The other exhibition is Dieter Roth: graphic design. The Swiss Dieter Roth (1930-1998) was among the world’s pioneers in shaping graphic design. He worked throughout his career here in Iceland. At the exhibition, our attention is directed to the artist’s graphic design. Many of the works have received little attention through the years. These projects by Dieter Roth were not considered valuable at the time, and few copies have survived. You should go to Garðabær and experience two different and fine exhibitions.
