A new swimming pool, Laugarás Lagoon, opened in mid-November in Laugarás, just east of Skálholt, the historic site. The swimming pool, which is a thousand square meters in size, on two floors, is not only well designed, but the buildings and the lagoon fit well into the environment, as if the lagoon is part of nature, has always been there. It is short, 85 km from Reykjavík to Laugarás Lagoon, just over an hour. From Geysir, just north, it is just over half an hour, as from Selfoss. On site, there is of course a high-quality restaurant, Ylja, where almost all the ingredients come from farmers in the area, as the region is one of the main agricultural areas in the country, with both extensive farming and of course livestock. There is no shame in visiting Laugarás Lagoon, where the hot water, mixed with cold glacial water from the Hvítá River, which can be viewed from the lagoon, delights both body and soul.
