The Year 2022

Good year… yes. In many ways, the year was good for the 375 thousand souls who live in Iceland. The weather was bearable, except for these very cold days at the end of the year. It was fairly warm, somewhat rainy, but the best thing was that the Covid restrictions were mostly lifted in the first quarter, which meant that we Icelanders could roam freely, and the tourism industry picked up quite fast. Second best year ever in my opinion. When you look over the year, where you went, where and what you photographed, many unique places come to mind. Hard to choose the best ones but here are four places that stood out…. last year, in fact together with many others, which Icelandic Times / Land & Saga readers will perhaps get to see.

The eruption in Fagradalsfjall, beautiful even though it was short. Unforgettable.
Kirkjan, at Núpsstaðir in Vestur-Skaftafellssýsla by Lómagnúpur, built around 1650.
A storm brewing at Skaginn, 24th of february 2022.
