Höfði is a house in northern Reykjavík, the capital city of Iceland, built in 1909. Höfði is located at Félagstún. Initially, it was built for the French consul Jean-Paul Brillouin in Iceland and was the exclusive residence of poet and businessman Einar Benediktsson (1864-1940) for many years. It is best known as the location for the 1986 Reykjavík Summit meeting of presidents Ronald Reagan of the United States and Mikhail Gorbachev of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. That effectively was a step to the end of the Cold War. Within the building the flags of the United States and the Soviet Union are cross-hung to commemorate the meeting

Alþingishúsið (The Parliament House) is a classical 19th century structure which stands by Austurvöllur in central Reykjavík, Iceland. It houses Alþingi, the Icelandic parliament. The building was designed by Danish architect Ferdinand Meldahl and built using hewn dolerite during 1880 to 1881.

L’une des plus petites capitales du monde, Reykjavík est entourée par les villes de Seltjarnarnes, Kópavogur, Garðabær, Álftanes, Hafnarfjörður et Mosfellsbær, regroupées pour former la région du Grand Reykjavík. La ville de Reykjavik fut fondée autour de l´an 900 par le viking Ingólfur Arnarson, passant au fil des décennies, d´un petit bourg à une métropole dynamique. Le Musée National retrace l´histoire du pays et la Librairie Nationale, située juste en face, conserve les livres et les registres de la nation. L´environnement culturel y est très riche. Il y a de nombreuses galeries d’art et des musées et l´Harpa, le nouvel opéra et centre de conférences propose un programme varié chaque mois. L´innovation et la créativité jouent un rôle majeur dans la vie quotidienne. La campagne se trouve juste à la sortie de la ville. Les activités possibles sont innombrables. Parmi elles, les excursions pour observer les baleines et les oiseaux, aller pêcher, aller à la piscine, faire des randonnées à cheval ou en vélo sont très prisées. Les soirées du weekend sont réputées et la ville est animée jusqu´au petit matin. Les bars et restaurants sont légions et proposent à la fois de la cuisine islandaise et internationale. Il y en a pour tous les goûts. Il en est de même pour les hébergements, il y en a pour tous les budgets.
