The sea and the sky in Húsavík

Three years ago, the spa GeoSea opened in Húsavík. In the middle of the 20th century, it was decided to drill for hot water at Húsavíkurhöfði Cape (where the sea baths are located). The water that came up was mineral-rich seawater which was not suitable to heat up houses.

Architects from BASALT designed this excellent bathing spot, but they have designed many of the country’s most beautiful natural baths, such as the Blue Lagoon, Guðlaug in Akranes, Vök in Egilsstaðir and Mývatn Nature Baths. Húsavík is close to many of the country’s most notable tourist destinations, such as Ásbyrgi, Dettifoss and Mývatn.
