The Cycling City Reykjavík

The City of Reykjavík has ambitiously invested large sums of money in recent years to improve the accessibility of cyclists. The proportion of cyclists in traffic is now around 7%. According to the City of Reykjavík’s transport plan, the aim is to double bicycle traffic over the next ten years. The Reykjavík Circle, a cycling route along the coastline, with stops west of Seltjarnarnes and across the Elliðaárdalur valley, is 27 km / 17 mi long. It’s not just the number of cyclists which has increased in recent years. There are also about 1500 electric scooters available for rent for those who want to go on shorter or longer trips on electricity.
