From the exhibition Blowout at Kling & Bang

Art in the gallery by the harbour

The gallery Kling & Bang was founded by ten visual artists almost 20 years ago. The policy is and was to promote art that both challenges and contains creative thinking by young and older artists, both foreign and Icelandic. Kling & Bang has been housed in the Marshall House in Örfirisey since the building opened after a complete renovation in 2017. The gallery can honestly be said to be one of the centres of Icelandic art in Reykjavík. It is also home to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Ólafur Elíasson’s Studio, and the restaurant La Primavera.

The current exhibition at Kling & Bang is called BLOWOUT. The artists Joakim Derlow from Sweden and the Norwegian duo Ellinor Aurora Aasgaard & Zayne Armstrong show brand new works: talking reliefs, video, paintings, and sound sculptures. Kling & Bang is open from noon on Wednesdays to Sundays. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, admission is free.

The Marshall House in Grandi, built in 1948 as a herring factory for Faxi and renovated in 2017, now houses three galleries and a restaurant.
