The history, the land and the calm
The other day I heard a meteorologist talking about the weather on the radio. Where would be the highest average temperature in Iceland, the most rain, the most wind, and the most calm days? It came as no surprise that Stórhöfði on Heimaey, Vestmannaeyjar, had the heaviest winds and that Bíldudalur in Arnarfjörður was the place with the most calm days. I did not know that. But Arnarfjörður, the big fjord in the Westfjords, is a beautiful place to visit. Unique and beautiful nature, incredible birdlife, and unique light. There is also one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, Dynjandi, and gorgeous beaches. For those who enjoy history, the fjord is full of places and monuments. From Reykjavík and west to Arnarfjörður, it is just over a six-hour drive, and then you have arrived at a completely different world.
