“No Regrets” by Haraldur Bilson

“No Regrets” an exhibition by Haraldur Bilson, opens on Saturday, December 7th, at 14:00 in Gallery Fold.

Haraldur Bilson, who is often called Harry, is known for his humorous, colorful and charming subject matters; people, animals and landscapes, often all at once. Anything can happen on the canvas and Harry plays with mixing Icelandic landscapes and culture with his British perspective, with humor and lightness as his main focus. One can often find humorous figures or animals in familiar situations in his works, and the viewer often finds something new with each viewing. Harry paints with oil, acrylic and watercolors, but is also a very skilled illustrator.

Haraldur Bilson was born in Reykjavík in 1948 but moved to the UK at a young age. His mother was Icelandic and his father was British. He began painting early in life, and held his first solo exhibition in London at the age of just 21.

Harry has held numerous solo exhibitions around the world, including in Iceland, and they have always attracted a lot of attention. He describes himself as a globetrotter, but he has lived all over the world creating art, and it can truly be said that he is an international painter. However, he always emphasizes his Icelandic roots and has called Iceland his home for the past few decades. Harry’s collaboration with Gallerí Fold has been particularly successful, as he held his first exhibition at Gallerí Fold almost 30 years ago.

The works in the exhibition provide an insight into Bilson’s diverse visual world, both in large and small works. In the exhibition, which runs until December 22nd, Bilson shows new works mixed with a selection of some older works.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, December 7th, and closes on December 22nd, 2024. Everyone welcome.
