The first custom-built freezer vessel in Iceland

Bruarfoss, built-in 1927 was the first cargo ship constructed especially with freezing capabilities for the Icelandic company Eimskip. It was in use continuously until 1957 and then sold. In World War II, the crew managed to rescue 78 British sailors. It was a busy time when it arrived in Reykjavik harbor, and people enjoyed watching it dock.
