Guided Summer Solstice Walk on Viðey Island


Thursday June 21st there will be a guided summer solstice walk on Viðey Island. Spoken language is Icelandic.
The walk will take you through a scenic trail on the western part of the Island Viðey. Þór Jakobsson meteorologist will enlighten guests about the solstice and its traditions and the poet Gerður Kristný will read an inspiring poem. The Museum Director Guðbrandur Benediktsson will lead the walk. There will also be a bonfire and sing along so bring some snacks. The trail is adequate for most people but it is recommended to wear good shoes and a wind proof jacket.
The ferry leaves Skarfabakki pier at 20:00 and back at 23:00 at the latest. Adults pay ISK 1,550 for a round trip with the ferry, children 7–15 years old pay ISK775 but the youngest sail for free. All guidance is free of charge and spoken language is Icelandic.
