It’s so satisfying when something new and exciting is added to the Icelandic art scene. A new gallery has opened at Mýrargata 18, by the Reykjavík Harbour, in the basement of the design store La Boutique Design. The opening exhibition features 41 artists, 111 works, spanning the entire spectrum, a truly entertaining overview of the best that is currently being done here in Iceland. The artists are in alphabetical order, Anna Álfheiður Brynjólfsdóttir, Anna Ólöf Jansdóttir, Ásgeir Skúlason, Auður Ómarsdóttir, Ásta Guðrún Óskarsdóttir, Aðalheiður Valgeirsdóttir, Baldur Helgason, Björgvin Sigurðarson, Claire Paugam, Dagur Benedikt Reynisson, Einar Viðar G. Thoroddsen, Grace Jane Claiborn-Barbörudóttir, Halldór Sturluson, Hallgrímur Helgason, Helga Sigríður Valdemarsdóttir, Helgi Vignir Bragason, Hulda Vilhjálmsdóttir, Ingibjörg Dalberg, Julie Sjöfn Gasiglia, Kata Unnar Jóhanness, Kristinn Már Pálmason, Hólmfríður Sunna Guðmundsdóttir, Lilý Erla Adamsdóttir, Markús Bjarnason, Melkorka Katrín Korkimon, Martina Priehodová, Páll Ivan frá Eidum, Patty Spyrakos, Ragga Weisshappel, Salome Hollanders, Salvör Sólnes, Sigga Björg Sigurðardóttir, Sindri Dýrason, Snorri Ásmundsson, Sunna Dögg Ásgeirsdóttir, Steinar Fjeldsted, Tinna Magnúsdóttir, Unnar Ari Baldvinsson, Yael BC, Þórarinn Ingi Jónsson and Þorvaldur Jónsson. It will be really exciting to follow the next exhibition, exhibitions, but this opening exhibition runs until mid-January 2026. Yes, there is a lot of good happening in Icelandic art right now, it is clearly visible in this fun cross-section, well done.
