In the middle

Smáralind, the largest shopping center in the country is located in the center of the capital area in the middle of Kópavogur. There are almost 80 shops and service providers on 62,200 m2 and the building is the largest in the country open to the public. Opposite Smáralind is the Tower at Smáratorg, the tallest building in Iceland with its 20 floors. Smáralind officially opened at 10 minutes past 10, on the tenth day of the tenth month in 2001. The design of Smáralind was a joint project of the British architectural and engineering firm BDP and the Icelandic architectural studio ASK Arkitektar. Icelandic Times / Land & Saga took a little trip to Kópavogur to photograph and experience Smáralind. After all, there is an excellent selection of shops, one of the best cinemas in Iceland, and well known restaurants that most people are familiar with.
