Society is slowly but surely becoming how it was in Iceland. This can, for example, be seen in the number of tourists in the country. In September, there was a 969% increase in the number of tourists leaving Iceland through Keflavík Airport compared to the same month the year before.
In total, they were 108 thousand according to passenger numbers from Isavia and the Icelandic Tourist Board. Most of the passengers were Americans, or 28% of the total. Next were the Germans, who were 13% of the total. The British and French shared third place and were 6% of the total. 29 thousand Icelanders went abroad this September. Only 5 thousand Icelanders travelled in September last year.
